Land Development and Vision

Through strategic partnerships spanning over two decades, David Matten and his affiliated companies have leveraged investments in a wide array of geographies and market segments. A privately owned land acquisition and development firm, Matten Industries has invested in developments throughout NY, FL and GA. As a Florida Certified Building Contractor and Georgia Residential Contractor, the firm continuously seeks prime development property for new residential and commercial construction. Matten currently holds multiple acres in key market locations with a steady supply of finished lots at competitive prices. The firm targets acquisition of raw land with entitlements in place or nearly in place which Matten Industries develops in-house, and either sells to homebuilders and other developers or develops for resale internally. The firm continues expanding relationships in the southeast U.S. and is actively purchasing lots in prestigious communities for private development. Leveraging its core strengths of transactional flexibility, operating expertise and financial capital, Matten aims to establish itself as one of the industry’s premier developers of residential and mixed-use communities.

Management Team

David Matten

Founder and Managing Partner

David Matten graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1998 and began his career as a financial advisor with Prudential Securities. With an in-depth knowledge of debt markets and receivables, David opened a Manhattan based commercial collection agency and expanded nationally through franchisees helping recover tens of millions in receivables nationwide in under 2 years. Post agency sale, David directed his attention to the LED lighting industry and became one of the first manufacturers of Solid State Linear LED tubes servicing the Northeast through a partnership with Lockheed Martin and Con-Edison, a New York based utility company. The company he founded, Lumenor Energy Services, produced lights that provide energy savings to over 3,000 locations nationwide and his patent for linear LED tubes can be found in products sold at multiple big box stores today.

Licensed as a Certified Building Contractor in Florida, a Residential Contractor in Georgia, and a realtor in both, David and his staff can assist you in developing ground-up residential, multi-family, or commercial property. David speaks fluent English, Hebrew, Dutch, and moderate Spanish.

Shayla Matten

Vice President/ Head of Operations

Shayla Matten graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2000 with a degree in business management and economics. She began her career with Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) in New York City as a research analyst where her team provided in-depth market analysis for traders and financial advisors. Her background in research led to debt portfolio management working with National One Credit, a NYC based credit and collection agency. Selected for a fellowship in education at Queens college, Shayla received her Masters in education thereafter and spent over 15 years as an educator. Shayla spearheads most of Matten Industries marketing, research, and office management. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Jasmine Bullaro

Executive Liaison/ New York Acquisitions

Jasmine heads the New York division of Matten Industries seeking properties for development in the apartment and residential home sector. Her tenacity and ability to locate undervalued properties has helped Matten acquire, renovate, and/or resell multiple properties in Forest Hills, Forest Hills Gardens, Bayside, Jamaica Estates and Manhasset on Long Island where she resides with her family.

She holds a PHD in child development from Yeshiva University in New York and has a private practice in addition to her work with Matten Industries. Jasmine is fluent in English, Hebrew and Dutch.
